What is AI Visibility?
Quick answer
AI Visibility is how present and recommended your brand is inside the answers AI engines give buyers. It isn't a vibe, at Hingewise it's measured concretely, as Share of Model.
Traditional brand awareness asks whether people have heard of you. AI Visibility asks something sharper: when a buyer poses a real question to ChatGPT or Gemini, does your name come up, and is it the one recommended?
It helps to see visibility as three rising levels, not one. First, presence: are you mentioned at all? Second, recommendation: are you the pick, or just one of several also-rans? Third, accuracy: when the AI talks about you, does it get the facts right, the price, the offer, the specialty? A brand can clear the first level and fail the next two. Named often, chosen rarely, described wrong.
That's why AI Visibility has to be measured, not felt. Checking one question once and seeing your name is not evidence; the answer shifts by phrasing, by engine, by day. A real read runs the questions your buyers ask, across engines, and turns the result into a number you can track over time. Without that, "I think we're doing fine on ChatGPT" is a guess, usually an optimistic one.
Frequently asked
How is AI Visibility measured?
Concretely, as Share of Model, how often you're named versus competitors across the questions buyers actually ask, on AI engines that search the web.
How is it different from brand awareness?
Awareness is whether people know you. AI Visibility is whether the AI names and recommends you at the moment of a buying question.
If I'm mentioned a lot, am I winning?
Not necessarily. Presence is the floor; being the recommendation (accurately) is the goal.
